We adopt an airport-wide approach and collaborate with our business partners to reduce HKIA’s environmental impacts.
As a significant proportion of HKIA’s environmental footprint is beyond AAHK’s direct control, working closely with business partners and other stakeholders is our best opportunity to drive improvement. We encourage our business partners to participate in our environmental programmes by demonstrating the footprint reduction benefits that could be accomplished through collaboration and making these programmes easy, useful, and, wherever possible, free.

We work closely with the airport community under an airport-wide approach to set targets, implement carbon reduction measures, and drive energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
Our three-pronged approach to waste management includes reducing the amount of waste generated, facilitating waste separation at source to promote recycling, and exploring alternative disposal options.
We recognise our duty of care to avoid and minimise adverse impacts on biodiversity during the development and operation of HKIA and the role aviation plays in stopping the illegal trafficking of wildlife.
